the tome rulebook
Rules
welcome in! these rules keep tome fun, fair and safe for everyone, so please actually give them a read.
how this works
- these rules cover the official tome discord server, tome in every server it's in, your dms when they're about tome, and this website
- the spirit of a rule matters more than its exact wording. if you find a "well technically it doesn't say that" gap, assume it's not allowed and ask
- not having read the rules isn't a defense
- to reach staff about anything in here, contact us privately rather than in public chat
- rules get updated now and then. changes are announced, and using tome means you agree to the current version
chapter i
be kind
how we treat each other
- 1.1
treat people like people. disagreeing is fine, being cruel isn't
- 1.2
no harassment, bullying, threats, or following someone around the server, into dms or into other servers to keep going at them
- 1.3
no hate speech or slurs, including censored ones, "reclaimed" ones, or ones hidden in names, emojis, images or letters spelled out. no discrimination over race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexuality, disability or age
- 1.4
"it was a joke" doesn't undo a rule break. if someone asks you to stop, you stop
- 1.5
no starting or feeding drama. no callout posts, vague posting about members, or dragging outside beef in here. bring problems to staff instead
- 1.6
don't shame anyone for their pulls, favorite characters, series or ships. hype your own luck all you want, just don't use it to put people down
- 1.7
no begging for cards, currency, frames or trades. asking once is fine, asking again after a no isn't
- 1.8
no unsolicited dms. ask in chat first, and never dm people to advertise, pester them about a trade, or keep an argument going
- 1.9
don't impersonate other members, staff or tome itself. that includes copying names, avatars, nicknames or handles to look like someone
- 1.10
keep arguments civil and short. if staff ask for a topic to move on, it moves on
chapter ii
keep it clean
what's okay to post
- 2.1
this server is sfw. no nsfw, sexual, suggestive or fetish content anywhere, including emojis, stickers, reactions, links, voice chat and card showcases
- 2.2
zero tolerance for any sexual or suggestive content involving minors, characters who are minors, or characters drawn to look like children. "they're actually 1000 years old" doesn't change anything. this is an instant ban and gets reported to discord
- 2.3
no gore, shock content, self harm content or real life violence
- 2.4
swearing is fine. swearing at someone isn't
- 2.5
spoilers go behind spoiler tags like this for anything released in roughly the last month, plus any major twist or ending no matter how old. say which series it's from outside the tag
- 2.6
no politics, religion debates or other heavy topics in general chats. they turn into fights fast and this is a card game server
- 2.7
no promoting drugs, illegal stuff, piracy links, or cheats and hacks for any game
- 2.8
all of this counts everywhere your stuff shows up here: usernames, nicknames, avatars, banners, bios, statuses, your tome handle, and anything you pin or showcase
chapter iii
chat & channels
keeping the place readable
- 3.1
use channels for what they're for. read the channel topic and pins before posting
- 3.2
tome commands go in bot channels, and drops stay in drop channels
- 3.3
no spam: message floods, walls of text, copypastas, repeated emojis, stickers or gifs, all caps, or breaking one message into ten little ones
- 3.4
no mass pings, ghost pings, or pinging people who don't know you just for attention. only ping staff for real problems, and ping one of us, not all of us
- 3.5
no advertising without staff permission: servers, socials, streams, other bots, shops or commissions. that includes doing it in dms or using your status to recruit people from here
- 3.6
no sketchy links: ip grabbers, fake nitro, "free" giveaways, fake login pages, shorteners that hide where a link goes, or qr codes
- 3.7
keep the main chats in english so everyone, staff included, can follow along. other languages are welcome in channels made for them
- 3.8
voice chat: no earrape, mic spam, soundboard spam, or voice changers used to troll. never record or stream someone without their permission
- 3.9
threads and forum posts follow the same rules as the channel they live in
- 3.10
don't use reactions to spam, spell out words at people, or pile onto someone's message
chapter iv
one soul, one binder
accounts & automation
- 4.1
one tome account per person. alts can exist for other things, but using more than one account for anything tome related (drops, claims, dailies, votes, quests, trades, the market) isn't allowed
- 4.2
that includes having friends or family claim, pull, vote or play on your behalf, or logging into someone else's account to do it
- 4.3
no sharing, selling, buying, renting or lending accounts. you're responsible for everything done on yours
- 4.4
no automation of any kind: macros, auto clickers, auto claimers, scripts, self bots, modified clients, or anything else that sends commands or presses buttons for you. every action has to be you doing it
- 4.5
reminders and timers are fine, as long as you still do the action yourself. tome has its own reminders for exactly this
- 4.6
no scraping, botting or spamming requests at the website or its api
- 4.7
no farming drops with throwaway servers, alts, or friends' servers set up just to squeeze out extra drops
- 4.8
no getting around cooldowns, dailies or votes with alts, vpns, timezone tricks or anything similar
- 4.9
if you get flagged for something automated that you genuinely didn't do, contact staff. we'd much rather check than punish the wrong person
chapter v
bugs & exploits
found something broken?
- 5.1
report bugs privately to staff. don't post how to do it in a public chat, even as a joke
- 5.2
don't exploit bugs, even "just to test". if you need to repeat it once to report it properly, do that, then stop
- 5.3
anything gained from a bug gets removed: cards, currency, frames, items, and anything you traded them for. that can reach whoever you traded with
- 5.4
knowingly trading, gifting or selling glitched items counts as exploiting
- 5.5
sharing an exploit with anyone, privately or publicly, is treated the same as using it
- 5.6
if a bug hands you something by accident and you report it quickly, you won't be punished for it
- 5.7
if we have to roll something back because of a bug, it isn't personal. we'll do our best to make it fair for everyone
- 5.8
faking bug reports or screenshots to get compensation is a ban
chapter vi
trading & the market
fair deals only
- 6.1
all trades go through tome itself: %trade, %gift, or the market. deals done outside of it ("you send first, i'll send after") aren't protected and staff can't step in
- 6.2
once a trade is confirmed in tome, it's final. staff won't reverse a trade because you changed your mind or found a better offer later
- 6.3
no scamming: bait and switch, fake screenshots, lying about what a card is (stars, print, frame, variant), or pretending to be someone else to get a deal
- 6.4
no cross trading. tome cards, currency and items can't be traded for items from other bots, other games, nitro, gift cards or anything outside tome
- 6.5
no funneling. moving cards or currency from alts or "friend" accounts into one account is an alt violation, even when it's split into small gifts over time
- 6.6
no messing with market prices: shill bidding, fake bids, bidding on your own auction through someone else, or teaming up to control what something sells for
- 6.7
lowball offers are fine. spamming offers, guilt tripping, or harassing someone over their prices isn't
- 6.8
no loans or iou trades. if you hand something over expecting it back later, that's on you and staff can't enforce it
- 6.9
giveaways and raffles of tome items need staff approval first and have to be free to enter
- 6.10
cards or currency that came from a rule break get removed from whoever ends up holding them, so be careful with deals that look too good
chapter vii
money, purchases & tome+
real money stays real money
- 7.1
tome items have no real world value. cards, gold, tickets, ink, gems, frames and everything else can't be bought, sold or traded for real money, crypto, or anything worth money
- 7.2
that includes paying someone to play for you, paid "boosting", or buying someone else's pulls or account
- 7.3
real money purchases only happen through the official tome website (tomebot.pages.dev) or a ticket with the team in this server. anyone offering to sell you tome stuff anywhere else, in dms, or who isn't on the team is scamming you
- 7.4
chargebacks or refund abuse on a purchase remove whatever that purchase gave you and can lead to a bot wide ban
- 7.5
tome+ and any other perks are a thank you, not a free pass. supporters follow the exact same rules as everyone else
- 7.6
don't resell, share or "rent out" perks to other people
chapter viii
cards, art & suggestions
respect the artists
- 8.1
the art on tome's cards belongs to its original artists and creators. tome uses it for a free fan project and never claims it
- 8.2
don't repost card art or card renders as your own, sell them, or use them in anything paid
- 8.3
if you're an artist and your art is on a card, contact staff and we'll credit it or take it down, no argument
- 8.4
any art you share for cards or banners has to be something you're allowed to share, credited to the artist. no traced, stolen or edited art passed off as original
- 8.5
series suggestions go through the suggest page or command. check it hasn't already been suggested, one suggestion per series, and no spamming to get yours added
- 8.6
you can suggest any anime, manga, game or show. not real people (including streamers and celebrities), nsfw only series, or your own ocs
- 8.7
please don't pressure staff about when a series, character or art will be added. we get to them as fast as we can
- 8.8
wrong names, wrong series or broken art? report it to staff, it genuinely helps
- 8.9
no ai generated art in anything you share for cards, banners, events or art channels, and never pass ai art off as something you or another artist drew. that includes art that's ai made and then edited or traced over
- 8.10
don't feed tome's card art, or any member's art, into ai tools or datasets to copy, remix or train on it
chapter ix
profiles, banners & the website
your corner of tome
- 9.1
your @handle can't impersonate anyone, include slurs or sexual words, or be used to advertise. claiming a well known member's or creator's name to pose as them gets the handle reset
- 9.2
bios, pinned cards, banners and colors follow every content rule. keep it sfw, no personal info, no ads, and no sketchy links
- 9.3
don't set up your profile to mimic staff, the team, or official tome pages
- 9.4
don't pin or showcase cards to mock or target someone
- 9.5
only sign in through the official site (tomebot.pages.dev) using discord's own login page. tome will never ask for your password, email or 2fa code
- 9.6
don't try to break, overload or get around the website: no scraping, editing requests to cheat, or poking at the api. found a hole? report it (chapter v)
- 9.7
private profile and private collection settings exist for a reason. don't try to get around someone's privacy or pressure them into turning it off
chapter x
privacy & safety
look out for each other
- 10.1
you have to be 13 or older (or the minimum age in your country) to use discord, which means this server and tome too
- 10.2
no doxxing. don't share anyone's real name, face, location, school, socials or other personal info without their clear permission, even if it's "already public somewhere"
- 10.3
don't post screenshots of private dms or conversations without permission. sharing them privately with staff to report something is always fine
- 10.4
keep your own info safe too. please don't share your address, phone number or anything that identifies you
- 10.5
no phishing, token grabbers, fake login links, or "scan this qr code" scams. accounts posting these get removed right away, hacked or not
- 10.6
if your account gets hacked, tell staff as soon as you can. we'll remove the account until it's secure again. that's protection, not a punishment
- 10.7
this is a card game community, not a dating server. no flirting at people who aren't into it, and never ask anyone for pictures
- 10.8
if someone makes you uncomfortable, you can always tell staff privately. you won't get in trouble for reporting something in good faith
- 10.9
no deepfakes. that means no ai or edited images, videos or voices of real people, including members and staff, made to look real, put words in their mouth, mock them or pass as them. sexual deepfakes of anyone are an instant permanent ban
chapter xi
outside the server
the rules travel with tome
- 11.1
these rules follow tome everywhere: other servers, dms and the website. breaking them anywhere can affect your tome account
- 11.2
tome bans can be for one server or bot wide. a bot wide ban means no tome in any server
- 11.3
no raiding, brigading, or sending people to go after another server or user, and don't bring fights from other servers in here
- 11.4
don't claim to represent tome, the team or this server anywhere else
- 11.5
don't leak anything from staff or private channels
- 11.6
serious stuff that happens off server (threats, grooming, doxxing, scams aimed at members) will be acted on here and may be reported to discord
- 11.7
other servers that use tome can have their own extra rules. follow those while you're there, on top of these
chapter xii
staff
who keeps the lights on
- 12.1
staff calls are final in the moment. if you disagree, appeal the proper way (chapter xiii) instead of arguing it out in chat
- 12.2
don't mini mod. if someone's breaking a rule, report it rather than calling them out yourself
- 12.3
don't impersonate staff or claim to speak for the team
- 12.4
staff will never ask for your password, tokens, payment, or for you to "verify" through a link. anyone who does isn't staff, report them
- 12.5
staff can't hand out free cards, currency or items on request, not even as a favor. offering staff anything in return for something will get you in trouble
- 12.6
please don't ask to be staff. when we're looking for help, we'll announce it
- 12.7
staff follow these rules too, and are held to a higher standard. if a staff member abuses their role, report it privately to a higher up or the owner. good faith reports are always protected
- 12.8
staff don't moderate situations they're personally involved in, including their own trades
- 12.9
be patient with reports. pinging staff over and over won't make it go faster
chapter xiii
punishments & appeals
the last page
- 13.1
punishments usually go warning ▸ timeout ▸ kick ▸ ban, but serious things skip straight to the end
- 13.2
tome penalties are separate from server ones and can include removing anything gained from a rule break, a trade or market lock, a balance reset, or a bot wide ban
- 13.3
punishments apply to the person, not just the account. alts or new accounts used to get around one get banned too, and the original punishment gets longer
- 13.4
ban evasion means a permanent ban
- 13.5
you can appeal once per punishment by contacting staff privately. stay calm, be honest, and explain your side. appeals from alts, or ones that harass staff, are denied
- 13.6
staff can act on anything that's clearly harmful even if it isn't written here. that's not a loophole, it's the whole point
- 13.7
not sure if something's allowed? ask staff first. asking never gets anyone punished
- 13.8
by staying in this server and using tome, you agree to these rules and to discord's terms of service and community guidelines
punishment guide
how punishments scale
what happens when a rule gets broken, and how far it can go
- every rule sits in one tier below, and each tier has its own ladder. you move up a step each time you break a rule in that tier
- breaking rules in more than one tier moves you up each of those ladders
- staff can go lighter for honest mistakes, or skip steps when something is bad enough. the ladders are a guide, not a promise
- tome penalties (removed items, trade and market locks, bot bans) can come on top of server ones
- leaving and rejoining, or using another account, to dodge a punishment is ban evasion
- you can appeal once per punishment, see chapter xiii
tier i
slip ups
small stuff that happens to everyone. we'd rather remind you than punish you
rules
1.7 1.10 2.5 3.1 3.2 3.3 3.4 3.7 3.9 3.10 6.7 8.5 8.7 12.2 12.6 12.9
how it scales
- friendly reminder
- warning
- 1 hour timeout
- 12 hour timeout
- 3 day timeout
the most it can go to
kick, if it just keeps happening
- the first step is usually just a staff member saying something in chat
- warnings in this tier stop counting after 60 days without another one
tier ii
disrespect & disruption
making the place worse for other people, on purpose or by not caring
rules
1.1 1.4 1.5 1.6 1.8 1.9 2.4 2.6 2.8 3.5 3.8 6.9 8.2 8.6 8.9 8.10 9.1 9.2 9.3 9.4 9.7 10.3 10.7 11.4 12.3
how it scales
- warning
- 12 hour timeout
- 3 day timeout
- 7 day timeout
- ban
the most it can go to
permanent ban
- anything posted gets removed, and a handle, bio, banner or pinned card that breaks a rule gets reset
- warnings in this tier stop counting after 6 months without another one
tier iii
playing unfair
anything that cheats tome, the economy, or other collectors. these mostly come with tome penalties
rules
4.1 4.2 4.3 4.4 4.6 4.7 4.8 5.2 5.4 5.5 5.8 6.5 6.6 6.10 7.2 7.6 9.6
how it scales
- everything gained is removed + warning
- everything gained is removed + 7 day trade & market lock
- 30 day bot wide ban + balance reset
- permanent bot wide ban
the most it can go to
permanent bot wide ban, plus a server ban
- every step removes what was gained, including anything it was traded into, wherever it ended up
- alts involved get banned at every step, not just the main account
- automation (4.4) and alt farming (4.1, 4.2) start at step 2
- these stay on your record
tier iv
serious harm
hurting people, scamming them, or putting the server at risk
rules
1.2 1.3 2.1 2.3 2.7 3.6 6.3 6.4 7.1 7.4 10.9 11.3 11.5 12.5
how it scales
- 3 day timeout, or a 7 day ban for worse cases
- permanent ban
the most it can go to
permanent ban from the server and bot wide
- slurs, nsfw and scams can go straight to a ban on the first offense depending on how bad it is
- scams, real money trades and chargebacks also get the items involved reversed
- these stay on your record
zero tolerance
straight to a permanent ban
no warnings, no steps, no second chances
what counts
- sexual or suggestive content involving minors or childlike characters (2.2)
- doxxing anyone (10.2)
- phishing links, token grabbers, malware or fake login pages (10.5)
- ban evasion (13.4)
- real threats of violence, or encouraging self harm
- grooming, or any sexual behavior toward a minor, anywhere (11.6)
- impersonating staff or tome to scam someone (12.3)
- sexual deepfakes of anyone, real or ai made (10.9)
the most it can go to
permanent ban from the server and bot wide, and reported to discord where it applies
- a hacked account posting phishing is removed until it's secured, that one isn't held against you
- being under 13 (10.1) isn't a punishment. you're removed until you're old enough, then you're welcome back
